Titled  "The Role of WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) in Developing Ties to the Community", April Elliot, CPSS, Certified Advanced Level WRAP Facilitator, and Sheila Kennedy, CPSS, Certified WRAP Facilitator, Consumer Affairs Liaison, conducted a workshop at the Winter Conference of the Michigan Association of Community Mental Health Boards last week In Lansing, Michigan. They shared the principals of WRAP and shared how WRAP has been a significant factor in their own recovery journeys.

The presentation focused on exploring ways to use WRAP as a tool to create partnerships in the community, for individuals and agencies. Presenters discussed the possibilities of acheiving personal well-being through community, the importance of educating individuals receiving services on ways to create positive community support, and educating staff about strategies to empower individuals they serve using the concepts of WRAP.


The agenda included:

  1. The five key concepts of WRAP and their role in personal wellness;
  2. 2.Three specific ways that WRAP can be used in building community partnerships with other agencies and community services;
  3. 3. Four specific ways that individuals can utilize WRAP to build Community Connections and Support.
