People in Warren who are living with mental illnesses have had a friendly place to go, socialize, and learn new skills since 1993, when eight to nine people who were using day treatment programs got together, and transformed one of those programs into Crossroads Clubhouse.
Crossroads offers members the chance to learn career-related skills with work units including a kitchen unit, a retail snack bar, Member Services, maintenance, and clerical groups.
In addition, clubhouse staff and membership attend the Power Day and Walk A Mile events in Lansing, town halls and other local forums in their own community, and are also very active in the
Michigan Association of Clubhouses.
According to clubhouse director Debra Overton,
“We are a large clubhouse, but we are always eager to have more members, as each member brings a new set of talents and interests to the clubhouse.”
