Thanks to Norm DeLisle from the Michigan Disability Rights Coalition for agreeing to contribute this monthly segment about assistive technology.
The Veterans Administration has released a phone and tablet app for both the iPhone and Android platforms. You can get the app for either kind of phone or tablet:
View PTSD App Screen Shots.
The Veterans Administration page has more information on the app and PTSD at

This app is a good model for how recovery apps could be useful to people. Using it for a while also makes you think of other things it might do.
Here at MDRC we are thinking about talking to people in recovery, and with other kinds of disabilities, to get some ideas for what kinds of apps would be genuinely useful. If we can figure out a way to do such a project, we would work with peer-run organizations. We could design the apps, but would have to have a developer do the app work.
Maybe we could have a Michigan Peer app. What should be in a Michigan Peer app?
