President Obama signed into law the largest economic bill in history. In addition to aid for states, mortgage holders, retirees, and social security disability recipients, the money will flow into highway, bridge and other infrastructure projects, health care, renewable energy development, conservation and, of course, the car companies.
It includes a $400 tax break for most individual workers and $800 for couples, including those who do not earn enough to pay income taxes. Nearly 55 million Social Security and SSI beneficiaries will receive one-time payments of $250 each.
