Healthy Eating Tips (from Faith)

These healthy eating tips are from Faith Freeman.

  1. Learn to love soups. They can be healthy, taste great and filling. Here is a link to a lentil soup recipe that Faith enjoys. Using a pressure cooker can cut down on the cooking time.
  2. Eat a good breakfast. If I eat an egg or even an egg white in the morning, I crave less sweet stuff during the day.
  3. Eat plenty of veggies. These can be in a soup or another dish. They can also be in a salad, if you like salads.
  4. Eat yummy stuff with black beans in it. With black beans you can make black bean humous, black bean soup, black bean burgers, have black beans as a side dish, use them in a main dish or casserole; you can mix up several kinds of beans like in the recipe for Cowboy Caviar. YUMMY! You can also place black beans on top of a salad.
  5. Use cheese as a condiment, as a meal add-on, not as the main ingredient. A little cheese can go a long way, and (depending on the kind) can be high in both calories and fat.
  6. Eat lean protein. Try to stay away from deep fried proteins, or make deep fried protein part of a special treat meal.
  7. Stay away from pop or soda. It is either filled with empty sugary calories or filled with chemical additives. No one seems to be sure what can happen from them in the long-term.
